Cookie Policy
Version 2.0 · Effective 5 October 2026
This policy explains how Cyberinfra Limited ("ScreenJournal", "we", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website at screenjournal.ai and in our web app at screenjournal.ai/app. It also explains what the desktop app keeps on your device. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data more generally.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. We also use similar technologies such as local storage and session storage, which keep small values in your browser in the same way. "Session" items are removed when you close the browser or tab; "persistent" items stay until they expire or you delete them. In this policy, "cookies" includes these similar technologies. Your choices apply to the browser you make them in, so you make them again on each device or browser you use.
2. Categories
- Strictly necessary: needed to sign you in, keep you signed in, protect requests, complete a purchase you start and remember your cookie choices. They cannot be switched off.
- Functional: remember interface preferences, such as your theme or which organisation is active. They do not track you across other sites.
- Analytics: help us understand how the website and web app are used. Set only with your consent.
- Marketing: measure our advertising. Set only with your consent.
3. Our website (screenjournal.ai)
The website has no sign-in, so it sets no sign-in cookies.
| Name | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
sj_cookie_consent | Stores your cookie choices: whether you allowed analytics and marketing, the version of the choices and when you made them. Set by us on screenjournal.ai only and shared with the web app at /app | Strictly necessary | 180 days |
theme (local storage) | Remembers your light or dark theme | Functional | Until you clear it |
Google Tag Manager (container GTM-59T6F47D) | Loads our analytics tags; Google Analytics may set _ga cookies | Analytics, only with consent | _ga: about 2 years |
Meta Pixel (_fbp) | Measures our advertising; records page views and clicks on the WhatsApp link. With your consent it shares visitor data with Meta | Marketing, only with consent | _fbp: about 90 days |
The support chat on our website keeps the conversation in the page only; it stores nothing in your browser. It may offer a WhatsApp link; following it takes you to WhatsApp, which has its own policies.
4. Our web app (screenjournal.ai/app)
| Name | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
sj_cookie_consent | Stores your cookie choices (shared with the website) | Strictly necessary | 180 days |
better-auth.session_token (with a __Secure- prefix over HTTPS) | Your signed-in session, set by our sign-in service; not readable by page scripts | Strictly necessary | 60 days, renewed while you use the app |
accessToken | A short-lived token that authorises your requests | Strictly necessary | 15 minutes |
refreshToken | Lets the app obtain a new access token without signing in again | Strictly necessary | 60 days (7 days in the demo) |
better-auth.state | Protects Google and Microsoft sign-in against forged requests | Strictly necessary | 5 minutes |
better-auth.two_factor | Carries a two-step sign-in between steps | Strictly necessary | 10 minutes |
signin_return_path, desktop_signin_resume_search, invite_signin_resume_id, invite_install_resume (local storage); desktop_signin_wizard_state (session storage) | Carry the page you were going to, a desktop sign-in or an invitation through the email sign-in link; removed once used | Strictly necessary | 10 to 30 minutes, or until the invitation is accepted or declined |
| Paddle checkout | Loaded only on the Billing page or the trial step when you start a purchase; Paddle may set its own cookies | Strictly necessary | Set by Paddle |
sidebar_state | Remembers whether the sidebar is open | Functional | 7 days |
activeOrganisationId, chat_session_id, chat_session_seed, mattpm:chat:collapsed:v1, mattpm:chat:conversationId:v1, mattpm:generations:v1, billingBannerDismissedAt (local storage) | Remember your selected organisation, the assistant panel and conversation, reports being generated and a dismissed billing notice | Functional | Until you clear them |
Google Tag Manager (container GTM-59T6F47D) | Loads our analytics tags; Google Analytics may set _ga cookies | Analytics, only with consent | _ga: about 2 years |
Microsoft Clarity (_clck, _clsk) | Usage analytics, including session replay and heatmaps | Analytics, only with consent | _clck: about 1 year; _clsk: about 1 day |
Over HTTPS the sign-in cookies are marked Secure, so they are sent only over encrypted
connections. The accessToken and refreshToken cookies are not sent with requests that start on
other sites (SameSite=Strict).
Session replay inside the web app. If you allow analytics, Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used, including session replays. Pages in the web app show monitoring data, so our Clarity project is set to Strict masking: all text and images are masked in your browser before anything is sent, and Microsoft receives the page layout, clicks, scrolling and navigation, not the monitoring data on screen. If you do not want this, leave analytics switched off.
Vendor-set durations are approximate and come from the vendors' documentation; vendors can change them.
5. The desktop app
The desktop app does not use cookies. It stores its sign-in session and settings locally on your device, outside any browser. It does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Crash and error reporting is described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Consent
When you first visit, the cookie banner lets you Accept all, Reject all or open Preferences to choose Analytics and Marketing separately. Until you choose, nothing in those categories loads, and Google Consent Mode is set to deny storage. Your choice applies across the website and the web app in the same browser. We may ask again if we change the categories or vendors.
We do not yet read Global Privacy Control browser signals automatically; use the cookie banner to withhold or withdraw marketing consent. We do not use monitoring or customer data for advertising.
7. Your choices
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through Cookie settings in the website footer, or in the web app under Account → Preferences (the "Cookie preferences" card). Withdrawing consent stops the tags from loading the next time you open or reload a page; to remove cookies already set, clear them in your browser. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be switched off; blocking them in your browser will stop sign-in working.
8. Changes and contact
This policy is versioned, and the version and effective date are shown at the top. We list every change on the Legal page with its effective date and, where practicable, post material changes before they take effect.
